Can you please provide details about how you use Cookies?
What are Cookies?
Cookies are little files that can be stored on your device(s) that help to provide a rich user experience. When Cookies are stored they can help to get you logged-in to our Websites or Apps more quickly. They can help to distinguish each unique User so that the experience is suitably tailored to the needs of that user. They can help to determine where a User chooses to opt in/out from communications.
Cookies fall into different categories, and we or our 3rd Party sources may use all three types of technology at any one time to provide the necessary functionality:
- Standard Cookies: Storage of preferences, management of your session or access to a Website
- Pixels: Small blocks of code added into Web pages to measure how much of a page has been viewed. These may be utilised in our News pages or other pages to activate the Live Chat service.
- HTML5 Local Storage: Our website platform uses local storage for the Live Chat service, so if used, the transcript can be maintained.
Use of Cookies
In our Apps (e.g. Quvo, PoliceBox), we use Cookies that are deployed by us (1st Party). They are specific to the individual User on the specific device. They are created by the App and we use strong encryption to protect them. Cookies of this nature are created and updated while using the App and are necessary for the App. They are only removed if you uninstall the App, or you choose to reset the connection settings.
- Necessary:
- Authentication: to help determine if a user is logged in. Used to inform ZeroTrust and LeastPrivilege business rules, to deliver an appropriate experience to that unique user.
- User Profile: is essential to help ensure the User can continue to collect information and perform Tasks when there is no network coverage.
Our Apps may also cause Cookies to be placed on your device(s) that are deployed by providers of functionality, especially where that functionality is provided by an integrated but external source (3rd Party). For example, Mapping and 'Precision location' tools fall into this category.
- Functionality: to help provide App functionality where that functionality is drawn from an integrated but external source.
In our Websites and online Knowledgebase, we use Cookies that are deployed by us (1st Party) or deployed by our Website hosting partner, or other external but integrated source (3rd Party). Cookies will be removed if they hit their intended expiry date, or if you choose to clear them out using the tools provided in your browser.
- Necessary:
-
- Authentication: to help determine if a user is logged in. Used to inform ZeroTrust and LeastPrivilege business rules, to deliver an appropriate experience to that unique user.
- Security: to help with managing platform security. The use of such cookies helps detect unusual or suspicious behaviour.
- Cookie Preferences Settings: so that you can tune which Cookies to accept.
- Analytics: to help our sales and marketing teams. We rely upon Cookies provided by our Website provider but to understand where there is interest in our platforms and services. We use this information to help us improve.
- Functionality: help our website learn how services work for different people and how to route traffic between servers. This includes delivering content from a Content Delivery Network (CDN). Also provide App functionality where that functionality is drawn from an integrated but external source.
Note that we do not currently serve Advertisements in our Website, Knowledgebase, or our Apps. For details of advertising associated with third parties who use Cookies, please visit their websites.

What can I do about Cookies?
The use of Cookies in our Apps are essential to the proper behaviour of those Apps and cannot be disabled. If you do not wish to accept essential cookies, then we reserve the right not to provide our service(s) to you.
Other cookies such as those which help with Analytics, Advertising, or Functionality, on our Website or Knowledgebase may be tuned by clicking on the Settings link in the Cookies banner. If you choose to tune the settings in relation to Cookies you must accept that some or perhaps all of the Website/Knowledgebase may not work correctly or at all.
Authentication Providers
Our Apps are compatible with the following Authentication Providers. We always recommend the use of Multi Factor authentication to limit the risk of cyber attacks including credential phishing. Customers can choose which to utilise to suit their requirements:
- Microsoft Oauth - Azure Active Directory (Work & School Accounts)
- Google Oauth - Compatible with GCP for Organisations
Our Website and Knowledgebase allow users to Login in order to see additional content, ranging from product documentation, service and support, or assurance material.
